She serves on the boards of the Sharpe Walentas Studio Plan and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. She is represented by the Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago.

Photographer Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao's View from Tribeca is a site-specific digital photograph deputed past the Citigroup at 388 Greenwich Street. Simmons's recent retrospective originated in 2018 at the Modernistic Art Museum of Fort Worth and traveled to Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in early 2019. Her feature film, 'My Art', premiered at the 73rd Venice International Pic Festival and had a North American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Simmons created an honor for the first Tribeca film festival.
